Jellyfin "Guidelines"

by xqtc

Visual Media

I always try to upload the highest quality publicly avaiable. If something is new/popular enough nearly every public tracker has one torrent with sufficient seeders, that offers UHD quality. If UHD is not avaiable, FHD is fine too. If you can't find what you are looking for matching these criteria, shoot me a DM and I will see what I can do. I might also consider buying Blu-Rays if the movie/show is relevant enough for me. Now to more technical stuff.

Preferred video codecs:

  1. VP9
  2. AV1
  3. H265/HEVC

Preferred audio codecs:

  1. Dolby TrueHD or similar stuff from Dolby
  2. DTS-HD

Try to find a release that utilizes mkv as a container.

HDR10 APPRECIATED ESPECIALLY FOR NEWER STUFF

Audible Media

For audio try to find FLAC releases or if you can't find any MP3@320kbit/s. For "unpopular" music add metadata yourself. You can upload first and see if jellyfin finds metadata itself. All major metadata indexers for music are set up on the server, so it should work most of the time automatically.
